Sunset over a lake in Lapland

Your host

Alban Regnoult, fishing guide.

Bon vivant, adventurer, lover of nature and wide-open spaces. Authentic fishing, the very opposite of an off-the-shelf package.
Alban Regnoult

“Twenty years in Africa shaped the adventurer in me.”

A professional fishing guide holding the French BPJEPS qualification, trained at the CNFMP, Alban has guided in Panama, Djibouti, the Maldives, the Andaman Islands, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Gabon. He is as much at home in freshwater as at sea, and with every lure technique.

Qualified in 2005, he started guiding in Gafsele in 2006, at a fishing camp founded in 1998, and took the camp over in 2011. He welcomes anglers of every level, from complete beginners to well-known professionals. He speaks French, English, Spanish and Swedish.

Passing it on

Training tomorrow's guides.

Since 2016, Alban has taught at the French national fishing-trades training centre (CNFMP) in Ahun, alongside Yoann Esquis, on running fishing camps abroad. Every guide he employs at Lappland Pro Natur has come through that course.

He also advises on fishing-lodge projects abroad, and designed the “France” colours of the Buster Jerk with SMITH Europe.

Pike being released

Catch and release

A rule he never bends.

A fish that grows beyond the average size is the one that has made the most of its environment: it is the best breeder. No farmer ever slaughters his prize bulls. Why should fish be any different?

In Gafsele every pike goes back, so the biggest are still there next season. How we fish.

They came to fish in Gafsele
